About the Digital Media Center

The Digital Media Center is a multimedia computer center, providing faculty and students with access to multimedia workstations equiped with multimedia production tools needed to enhance instruction or coursework. Anyone with an FSU Card can use the Digital Media Center. Drop by and we’ll be happy to show you around or get you started on a project! Also located here is the University's primary video collection and the new Open DVD Collection.

Philosophy on Assisted Media Services

The Digital Media Center’s primary goal is for patrons to become self-sufficient media users. To facilitate this we are committed to providing one-on-one instructional media support. This is important for patrons because watching and asking questions is an excellent way to embark on a new learning experience; whether you are an adept user just getting familiar with our Center, or whether you are a beginner, we are happy to work with you in an openhanded way. Particularly true for beginners, in order to learn and become self-sufficient, it is essential that new media users get as much hands on experience as possible. For that reason, for approximately one hour per project, we approach the process of assisted media services in a concerted way, sitting side-by-side, and for instructive purposes we'll even help create and input some of the content and data ourselves for you, describing what we are doing along the way. During this hour we slowly hand over full control of the project, shifting the learning experience into the hands of the patron. Exceptions with these time constraints can be made at the discretion of staff. And, of course, we are happy to continue to answer questions. For additional assistance, you may attend a DMC workshop or request a private consultation. We look forward to working with you soon!
